Children come to our classrooms carrying a wide variety of life experiences—some visible and many unseen. These can shape how they learn, behave, and connect with others. While educators may not always know a child's story, they can intentionally create environments where every child feels safe, connected, and ready to learn. This webinar explores practical, relationship-centered strategies that help adults in a classroom respond thoughtfully to children through supportive interactions and intentional environments. Participants will explore how these practices create conditions for children to thrive. The session examines factors that influence behavior while offering strategies educators can use immediately. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how everyday interactions can strengthen children's sense of safety, belonging, and resilience. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with this child?" educators will consider, "What might this child need?"—a shift in perspective that supports compassionate responses, stronger relationships, and more effective teaching.

Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 General continuing education credits.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel within 30 days before the event, the registration fee is not refundable. However, you will receive a credit for the registration fee which can be applied to another Young Child Learning event within the following 12 months. The processing fee is non-refundable.

If Young Child Learning cancels an event for any reason, registrants will receive a full refund of the registration fee and any processing fees paid. Alternatively, registrants may choose to receive a credit for the full amount paid, which may be applied toward another Young Child Learning event within the following 12 months.

Speaker's Biography

Dr. Sharon R. Jackson is an early childhood advocate and seasoned professional with presentations for international, national, state and local conferences. Retired from over 20 years in a school district Early Education program, other leadership experiences include Head Start, military, faith-based and for-profit childcare as well as accomplishing NAEYC accreditation for a Montessori program. Her focus areas include leadership support, family engagement, designing nurturing environments for young learners and the importance of play and home-school connection for strong outcomes.
Dr. Jackson has consulted nationwide for over ten years and has three online businesses, one geared toward supporting program directors, one advocating for play in the lives of children and one that focuses on support and professional development for Head Start programs.

Host's Biography

Dr. Scott Mesh is the Director of Young Child Learning and the CEO and Co-Founder of Los Niños Services which serves 2,000 young children with special needs each year through homecare and center services. He is a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with young children and their families and is an expert on assessing young children for developmental disabilities and autism. He has helped thousands of parents over the years make the transition to gaining help for their children through early childhood special education services. He is a leader in early childhood development and working effectively with parents.

Young Child Learning will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants.

The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of Young Child Learning. All grievances must be submitted in writing (via e-mail or mail) within 7 days after purchase of the webinar. Any supporting documents must be included with the submitted complaint.
