When young children are struck with big emotions like anger or disappointment, impulse control often disappears and the child’s response can be dramatic or disruptive. When big feelings emerge, regulating those emotions and demonstrating an ability to bounce back indicates the development of an essential superpower: self-regulation. This interactive workshop will focus on the role of self-regulation as one of our brain’s most important executive functions. Via video, we will view authentic examples and discuss practical “grab and go” strategies for coaching a distressed or unruly preschooler toward increased impulse control and greater resilience.
Teachers, therapists, social workers, and other early childhood professionals working with young children will benefit from this webinar.
