This webinar will provide practitioners with the necessary knowledge and tools for curriculum implementation, as well as the evidence indicating its efficacy in the classroom. The WeFEEL approach focuses on the following objectives: 1) recognizing emotions in yourself and others, 2) understanding the causes of emotions, 3) labeling emotions, 4) expressing emotions appropriately, and 5) co- and self-regulating emotions. This approach utilizes children’s literature focused on emotions, diversity and inclusion, thinking and mindfulness activities, yoga, and meditation. It focuses on a coaching model and emphasizes fostering co-regulation to achieve self-regulation in the classroom and at home.

Speakers' Biography
Dr. Daniela Fenu Foerch is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Florida International University. Dr. Foerch has experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses using various platforms. She is the graduate program director for the Early Childhood Program and recently launched a fully online MS in Early Childhood Education. Her research focuses on nurturing Emotional Intelligence in young children and their families who are at risk. Dr. Foerch is the Principal Investigator for the WeFEEL Emotional Intelligence Program at FIU.

Dr. Andrea Adelman is currently a clinical assistant professor and director of the Early Childhood Education Program at Florida International University. She holds a doctorate in early childhood special education with a specialization in teacher preparation, culturally responsive instruction, classroom management, emotional intelligence, social learning theory, educational technology, and cognitive learning theory. She has 20 years of teaching experience in various settings, including prekindergarten ESE, high school, and university settings, and she has experience in professional development for in-service teachers. Dr. Adelman is credentialed in prekindergarten ESE, ESOL, Reading, and ESE k-12. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at national and international conferences annually. Dr. Adelman is currently the PI of a large multi-year research grant that is examining the impact of an emotional intelligence curriculum on educational development, behavior, and student outcomes at various low-income learning centers in the Southeastern United States.

Host's Biography
Dr. Scott Mesh is the Director of Young Child Learning and the CEO and Co-Founder of Los Niños Services which serves 2,000 young children with special needs each year through homecare and center services. He is a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with young children and their families and is an expert on assessing young children for developmental disabilities and autism. He has helped thousands of parents over the years make the transition to gaining help for their children through early childhood special education services. He is a leader in early childhood development and working effectively with parents.
