Objectives

1. Introduce the concept and practice of mindfulness.


2. Discuss the positive effect of mindfulness practice to engage students intellectually, cognitively, physically, psychologically, and emotionally in focused ways that engender the flow of learning.

4. Identify the 8 mindful habits that are correlated with happiness, productivity and well-being.


5. Identify the benefits and value of mindful practice as evidence-based strategy consistent with neuroscience findings and positive outcomes.


6. Identify strategies to integrate mindfulness practice in the classroom as a vital emotional learning tool and a pre-requisite for optimal development and success.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel within 30 days before the event, the registration fee is not refundable. However, you will receive a credit for the registration fee which can be applied to another Young Child Learning event within the following 12 months. The processing fee is non-refundable. 

Speaker's Biography

With a dual Ph.D. in developmental psychology/special education from University of Maryland College Park, Dr. Patty O’Grady brings 50 years of experience as educator, psychologist, administrator, and researcher. The author of the foundational work, Positive Psychology in the Elementary Classroom (W. W. Norton & Co., 2013), as well as numerous journal articles, Dr. O’Grady is also an invited, regular contributor to Psychology Today (blog). Her international/national presentations are popular and include prior talks/keynotes at the Learning and Brain Conference, American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention, Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Annual Conference, International Positive Psychology (IPPA) World Congress, Young Child Expo, and many more. Dr. O’Grady’s expertise is in the neuroscience of positive psychology and how to integrate positive psychology principles into educational practice with special attention to whole child development. She is available for training and consultation with individuals, schools, districts, state agencies, and non-profit agencies, and research projects.

Host's Biography

Dr. Scott Mesh is the Director of Young Child Learning and the CEO and Co-Founder of Los Niños Services which serves 2,000 young children with special needs each year through homecare and center services. He is a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with young children and their families and is an expert on assessing young children for developmental disabilities and autism. He has helped thousands of parents over the years make the transition to gaining help for their children through early childhood special education services. He is a leader in early childhood development and working effectively with parents.

Young Child Learning will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants.
 
The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of Young Child Learning. All grievances must be submitted in writing (via e-mail or mail) within 7 days after purchase of the webinar. Any supporting documents must be included with the submitted complaint.
